"I'm bored!" "There's nothing to do!" Do these words sound familiar? I remember, as a child, if I ever used the word "bored," my mother was sure to FIND me something to do. Most of the time, it would be something that was not too fun. I learned at a very young age, to be creative in finding things to do to occupy myself.

It seems that nowadays when kids have down time, many times they

turn to some type of electronic device......whether it is a television, tablet, gaming system, or other handheld device. Sadly, all too often, I see children that do not know what to do with themselves without technology.

According to surveys presented by Nickelodeon, American Academy of Pediatrics, and Time Magazine, children are spending an average of 4-5 hours of screen time each day. Older children and teens are spending an average of 8-11 hours per day! The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children get no more than 2 hours per day of screen time!

Screens should also be kept in a public place......no screens in bedrooms! Our precious kids are losing much needed sleep due to the temptation to look at their screens at night.

I found this great chart that can be used to help kids earn their 2 hours of tech time each day. You can download it here or view the image below:
