Avoid the Summer Slide!

Did you know, according to the NWEA, students can lose on average 36% of their school-year gains in reading and a whopping 50% of their school-year gains in math skills?!  There are simple things you can do to help prevent summer learning loss.  Click here to check out Mrs. Becker's "Summer Slide flyer".

More Suggestions:

  • Students should read for pleasure.....in particular, books they have an interest in.  Books should be on their level or even a little above.

  • Read aloud to your child.

  • Purchase a summer workbook-  We like the Summer Bridge Workbooks.  These can be purchased at Barnes and Noble, Books-A-Million, or Amazon.  (Ask your teacher for the appropriate level for your child)

  • XtraMath.org

  • IXL Math/ Prodigy Game

  • Play Board Games

  • Cook together

  • Visit museums

  • Visit State Parks

  • Have FUN together!
